A Sports delegation from University of Ibadan (UI) made up of nine officials and twenty-nine students have paid a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ebenezer Oduro Owusu, at a brief ceremony.

The Vice-Chancellor, who welcomed the delegation, said he was delighted that the University of Ibadan and University of Ghana have over the years participated in bilateral games, which sought to bring the two universities together. He projected that the relationship between the two universities would blossom to a world-class relationship. He further hoped that the exchange of students would not only be at the sports level but also extended to the academic level.

Dr. Bella Bello Bitugu, Director of the Sports Directorate of the University of Ghana, in his remarks, who thanked the Vice Chancellor for availing himself for the brief ceremony, also noted that the Vice Chancellor was a sportsman and therefore was a good advocate for sports in the University.  While welcoming his counterparts and the team from UI, he expressed appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor for accepting to meet the team at very short notice. He stated that the already existing bilateral relationship which has been commissioned and progressed to the West African University games goes further to stir the continent in which African University games emerged. He anticipated that the relationship would continue to cement for both universities to achieve greater heights.

The U.I team led by Professor Babajide Asagba, Sports Chairman of the U.I team, said they were elated to have met the Vice-Chancellor, in spite of his busy schedule.   He added that the tradition of bilateral games and friendship between UG and UI was a long standing one, which had been nourished by mutual recognition of the need to sustain the relationship, and was hopeful that the existing relationship would be further strengthened through cordial visits, sporting activities, and also at the academic level.
