About 50 members of the University community, largely made of senior administrative and professional employees and few others from the membership of the LOC of GUSA 2020, recently presented items worth GH ₵3,250.00 and GH ₵3,483.00 to the University of Ghana Hospital and the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research respectively.
Presenting the donation on behalf of the contributors, Dr. Bella Bello Bitugu, Director of Sports who initiated this move, explained that the donation was to support frontline workers of the two institutions who have dedicated their lives to combating the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic and also to assure them that their efforts are deeply appreciated. He was accompanied by Dr. James Adomako.
Mr. Theodore Ahuno, Administrator for the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research, who received the items, noted that such donations from concerned individuals of the University community in this critical period of the Institute was very much appreciated. He said the items would go a long way to support the Institute particularly the laboratory staff testing COVID-19 samples. He expressed profound gratitude to all the individuals who had contributed . Bella Bello Bitugu, Director of Sports and contributors for their thoughtfulness.
Dr. Gloria Ansah, Senior Medical Officer, University of Ghana Hospital, who received the hospital’s donation, also expressed immense appreciation on behalf of the Management and staff for the kind gesture. She appealed to other benevolent individuals and organizations to complement Government's effort in the fight against the Corona Virus pandemic.
