The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ebenezer Oduro Owusu receives Officials from Newmont
Professor Ebenezer Oduro Owusu, Vice-Chancellor, received a donation from Newmont Ghana, towards support of the University of Ghana’s hosting of the up-coming 2017 International Association of Universities’ (IAU) Conference.
The Newmont delegation was made up of Mr. Alwyn Pretorius, Regional Senior Vice-President, and Mrs. Ama Bawuah, Senior Director, Government Relations.
The meeting also provided the opportunity for discussion on areas of sustainable educational collaboration between Newmont as a mining firm and the University of Ghana as an institution of Higher Education
In receiving the donation, Professor Oduro Owusu expressed appreciation for the donation. He thanked Newmont Ghana for their continued interest in the University of Ghana, and hoped the relationship would continue to be mutually beneficial.
Present at the brief ceremony were the Chairman of the Local Organising Committee of the IAU 2017 International Conference, Prof. Joshua Abor (Dean, University of Ghana Business School), and two members of the LOC, Mrs. Stella A. Amoa (Director of Public Affairs) and Ms. Eccles Andoh (Assistant Registrar, Public Affairs).

The 2017 IAU Conference, which is expected to bring together leaders in higher education, will take place from 18th to 20th October, 2017, to address various dimensions on the theme: Leadership for a changing public-private higher education funding landscape. The Conference will be preceded by the Global Meeting of Associations from 17-18th October, 2017.
Other corporate organisations that have supported University of Ghana to host the IAU Conference are Vanguard Assurance Co. Ltd., Omni Bank, Bank of Ghana, SIC Life, GCB, GNPC, Prudential Bank Ltd., MTN and Ecobank.
