The Lebanese Community in Ghana has awarded scholarships to thirteen (13) deserving undergraduate students pursuing Law at the University of Ghana. The scholarships were awarded as part of the Lebanese Government’s initiative to finance the studies of brilliant students in various tertiary institutions in Ghana. The short ceremony took place at the auditorium of the University of Ghana Law School.
Representing the Provost of the College of Humanities, the Dean of the University of Ghana Law School, Prof. Raymond Atuguba, expressed appreciation for the generosity of the Lebanese Government in maintaining the awards despite Lebanon’s political challenges and the economic effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Prof. Atuguba disclosed that the awards scheme was instituted in 2013 and has benefitted a total of 92 students. He mentioned that the School of Law was in the process of submitting a proposal which will seek to increase the number of beneficiaries.

In his remarks, the Lebanese Ambassador to Ghana, His Excellency Maher Kheir, noted that despite the economic, financial and political crises facing Lebanon, the Lebanese Community in Ghana is still committed to promoting higher education in the University of Ghana, inspired by Lebanon’s faith in diversity, multiculturalism, educational and human rights.
Presenting the award, Ambassador Kheir congratulated the award winners and urged them to strive for a brighter future.

The Acting Director of Public Affairs, Ms. Eccles Adwoba Andoh, thanked Ambassador Kheir for the presentation and congratulated the award winners on their achievement.
On behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr. Emmanuel Dei-Tumi Jnr., expressed profound gratitude to the Lebanese Community in Ghana for the awards and urged fellow beneficiaries to be diligent in their studies to make Ghana proud.
The value of the awards, amounting to ₵15,470.00, is to be shared equally among the 13 beneficiaries, namely, Mr. Emmanuel Dei-Tumi Jnr., Batariwah Prosper, Nutakor Amanda Ziwu, Emmeline Mawulorm, Lassey Christine Selikem, Adongo Frederick Agaaya, Kyere Maureen, Bediako Martinson Kwadjo Yeboah, Agborli Divine Selase, Gbedy Davina Seyram, Accorley Ann Esenam, Boateng Julius and Mensah Eugenia Awusi.
Present at the ceremony was Mr. Samuel Y. Amebley, School Administrator, University of Ghana Law School and some members of the Lebanese community in Ghana.
