KOICA Ghana Pays Courtesy Call on Vice-Chancellor

A delegation from Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) Ghana and its partners led by Mr. Moon Heon Kong, Country Director, KOICA Ghana have paid a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor.

The group’s visit was to present an update on the 3rd Survey on merging Asian Studies research with Information Technology (IT) at the Centre for Asian Studies at the University of Ghana.

Mr. Seungmin Oh, Senior Deputy Country Director, KOICA Ghana, on behalf of the delegation, expressed appreciation to the University for the warm reception. He stated that the project was a joint collaboration between the University of Ghana, KOICA Ghana and United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF). He added that the delegation was formally looking to the University to provide support in implementing structures necessary for the project.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Nana Aba Appiah Amfo, lauded the delegation’s efforts in working tenaciously on the project. She noted that the project will strengthen Africa-Asian relations. Prof. Amfo announced that Prof. Daniel Frimpong Ofori, Acting Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Academic and Student Affairs and Provost, College of Humanities together with Dr. Lloyd Adu Amoah, Director, Center for Asian Studies, would spearhead an efficient implementation team in order to complete the project successfully. Prof. Amfo pledged the support of Senior Management towards the project.

Prof. Daniel Frimpong Ofori, in brief remarks assured the team from KOICA that the implementation of structures was not a problem as the University was ready to provide the necessary assistance.

Dr. Lloyd G. Adu Amoah, presented the background to the project and added that the University was likely to see an upscale of its ICT experience once the project is implemented.
