Jospong Group of Companies Pays Courtesy Call on the Vice-Chancellor

On Monday 19th October 2020, a delegation from the Jospong Group of Companies paid a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ebenezer Oduro Owusu. The delegation was led by the Executive Chairman, Dr. Joseph Siaw Agyepong, to have an inception meeting with the College of Humanities for broader collaboration.

The Vice-Chancellor expressed profound appreciation to the delegation for the visit; and he noted that universities all over the world have realized the critical role the private sector plays in academic development as universities are inspired to open up to the private sector to foster research and development. The Vice-Chancellor urged the Provost of the College of Humanities (CoH) to expedite procedures for the signing of a Memorandum of understanding (MoU) for partnership.

In his remarks, Dr. Siaw Agyepong disclosed that the Jospong Group comprise 60 companies and was interested in partnering with the University in various capacities for mutual benefit. He expressed the Group’s readiness to cement the already existing relationship with the University by investing in physical infrastructure, research and grants, among others.
The Provost of the CoH, Prof. Daniel F. Ofori, at whose instance the courtesy call was made, led the discussions. He expressed delight at the news that the College of Humanities stands to benefit from the Jospong Group in infrastructural development, academic awards, and research collaboration. 
The Jospong Group Management team is scheduled to meet with the University of Ghana Management for further deliberations.
In attendance were Prof. Boateng Onwona Agyeman, Dean, School of Engineering Sciences; Mrs. Mavis Otoo-Ayeh, College Secretary, College of Humanities; and representatives of the Jospong Group of Companies.
