IPO Launches Ghana to the World Summer Programme

 The International Programmes Office (IPO) has launched its re-designed summer programme on the theme: ‘‘Ghana to the World (GTW) Summer Programme”.  The ceremony was held virtually on Wednesday, October 6, 2021.

In performing the official launch, the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Nana Aba Appiah Amfo, who chaired the programme, noted that the new summer programme was in line with the IPO’s efforts to support the University’s strategic global engagement goals. She highlighted how the new programme would distinguish itself as a leading summer programme in Africa through its Tour Ghana, Study and Obtain Credit and Volunteer model. She stated, “This model introduces Ghana to the world, and tells the African story through the perspective of Ghana, while enhancing cross-cultural emersion and  making the University of Ghana the hub for faculty and students’ global opportunities”.

The Acting Vice-Chancellor further expressed appreciation to external stakeholders and international partners for their continual loyalty to the University and called on them to support the GTW Summer Programme.

Dr. Cyrelene Amoah-Boampong, the Examinations Coordinator, IPO, who represented the Dean, Prof. Eric Osei-Assibey, presented a comprehensive outline of the GTW Summer programme package.

The Guest Speaker, Mr. Akwasi Agyeman, Chief Executive Officer, Ghana Tourism Authority, was delighted about his outfit’s partnership with the University in launching the new summer programme which, he said, is an excellent opportunity in enhancing the University and Ghana’s visibility in the international space.

There was a 5-minute video interlude of highlights of years of IPO’s engagement with partners during summer and that which GTW participants are likely to enjoy; and a Question and Answer segment. The launch brought together individuals and tour agents from across the world as well as representatives of universities in the diaspora.
