Inspection of ORID'S Multipurpose Building

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ebenezer Oduro Owusu, together with the Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the Office of Research, Innovation and Development (ORID), Professor Felix Ankomah Asante, inspected the ongoing construction of the multi-purpose building of ORID. The project is being funded by ORID’s internally generated funds at a total estimate of ₵10 million Ghana Cedis and is in three phases.

According to the Pro Vice-Chancellor (ORID), there are three blocks for each phase. The first phase of the project, which has been named Block B, is expected to be completed in six months, after which the other blocks, A & C, will be commenced. Glasel Company Limited, which is undertaking the contract, took the Vice-Chancellor and other UG officials around the project site.

The Vice-Chancellor commended the Pro Vice-Chancellor (ORID) for seeing to the commencement of the project. He advised the contractor to plant trees at the construction site to preserve the greenery, and he exemplified this by planting a commemorative tree with the Pro-VC. The ORID building is situated behind the School of Graduate Studies building, thereby creating a research enclave.

Present at the ceremony were representatives from PDMSD; the site Contractor, Glasel Company and his team; Deans of the School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences and the School of Public Health, Professors Sandow Mark Yidana and Julius Fobil; the Director of Institutional Advancement, Professor Robert Hinson; Acting Director of Public Affairs, Ms. Eccles A. Andoh; Senior Assistant Registrar at ORID, Mrs. Afua Yeboah; and several members of ORID.
