Emerita Professor Quakyi recognized during the 2021 International Women’s Day

Emerita Professor Isabella Akyinbah Quakyi, Professor of Immunology and Parasitology the Foundation Dean of the University of Ghana School of Public Health, and the first Emerita Professor in the Sciences in the University, has been named as one of the seven world women who have, through their works and against all odds, changed our world for the better.

The seven women in science were recognized during the 2021 International Women’s Day. The Newsweek report said: women who excel in science, technology, engineering, and mathematical (STEM) fields are often paid less than their counterparts. Women who excel in STEM subjects defy the odds stacked against them.

Emerita Professor Isabella Quakyi was involved in the cloning of protein secreted by the malaria parasite to develop the peptide vaccines. In 2019, she was awarded the Clara Southmayd Ludlow Medal by the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene.

As Emerita Professor in the Sciences, she has numerous research publications, journal articles, conference paper and projects. She has served on several national and international boards and committees.
