The Office of the Vice-Chancellor in collaboration with the Office of Institutional Advancement has organised a customer service training for Deans and Directors at the Great Hall, University of Ghana. The training centered on Operational Excellence in Service Delivery: Interpersonal skills in handling students and employees in the Era of COVID-19.

Speaking on Operational Excellence in Service Delivery, Prof. Ernest Yaw Tweneboah-Koduah, Department of Marketing and Entrepreneurship, University of Ghana Business School, focused on the customer as the life blood of every organization and the essence of instilling the core values of the University into the students.

Prof. Tweneboah-Koduah stated that, to understand customers, it was crucial to offer services of value to them and identify their current and future needs. He indicated that without the students, the University as an institution would crumble. “Customers are the source of revenue that fund the continuing operations of the University and without them, the University would not be in operation for long”, he said. He established that by providing the required skills and training to staff, it would be simple to attend to the needs of the students.

Prof. Tweneboah-Koduah stressed the need to inculcate the core values of the University into the students. “Students must leave the University with the core values in order for the University to maintain its status as an institution of great morals and values” he declared.

Present at the training were Deans and Directors of departments and units. The trainees were given the opportunity to ask questions and offer suggestions.
