The Centre for European Studies, University of Ghana has received a donation of equipment and stationery items from the 2016 EU Election Observation Mission (EU-EOM) to Ghana. These are six (6) HP450 G2 i3 Laptops, two (2) HP Laser Jet 1102w Printers and some stationery items such as A4 Sheets, A3 Sheets, Markers, Pens, Pencils, Note Books, Files, Plastic Staplers, Paper Clips and other office equipment to the Centre for European Studies of the University of Ghana.
The items were handed over to the Director of the Centre for European Studies, Prof. Ransford Gyampo at a short ceremony held in Accra on Wednesday, 28th December 2016.
In brief introductory remarks, Ambassador William Hanna, Head of EU Delegation commended the Centre for European Studies for its initiative and visible efforts aimed at promoting European Studies and research among students and faculty of the University of Ghana. He pledged to deepen the collaboration between the EU Delegation and the Centre to ensure the achievement of the latter’s mandate. On his part, Mr Philip Jol, Project Manager for the 2016 EU-EOM congratulated the Centre on its selection as recipient of the items and promised a fruitful future partnership between the EU-EOM and the Centre for European Studies.

Professor Ransford Edward Van Gyampo, Director of the Centre for European Studies thanked the EU-EOM for their kind assistance and applauded the EU Delegation in Ghana for its continuous collaboration with the Centre. He pledged the full and effective use of the items to promote research and teaching in European Studies among students and faculty in the University of Ghana. He used the opportunity to call on officials of the EU Delegation to fully participate in the lecture series and other activities of the Centre in the year 2017.

The EU-EOM arrived in Accra on 15th October 2016 to observe Ghana’s 2016 General Elections. The Mission comprised some eighty-five international election observers deployed to the ten regions of Ghana. After the election observation exercise, the EU-EOM decided to donate some of the laptops and printers that they had used, as well as the stationery used for the project to facilitate the work of the Centre for European Studies of the University of Ghana.
