The alumni and students of the Department of Geography and Resource Development on Friday, November 5, 2021, donated a bus to their Department.

Prof. Kwadwo Owusu, Head, Georgraphy and Resource Development

The Head of Department, Prof. Kwadwo Owusu, who received the key to the bus on behalf of the Department, stated that the procurement of the bus was borne out of an initiative led by the former Head of Department; now Acting Provost of the College of Education, Prof. Martin Oteng-Ababio. Prof. Owusu added that the bus donation was timely as it would enhance students’ field trips.

Emerita Prof. Elizabeth Ardayfio-Schandorf

Emerita Prof. Elizabeth Ardayfio-Schandorf, who chaired the event, expressed her joy and appreciation for the donation. She also encouraged the Head of Department to work out the possibility of acquiring additional buses to meet the needs of the entire student population of the Department. She further charged the Department to ensure that the bus is well maintained.

Prof. Daniel Frimpong Ofori, Acting Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Academic and Student Affairs, and Provost, College of Humanities

In brief remarks, the Acting Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Academic and Student Affairs, and Provost, College of Humanities, Prof. Daniel Frimpong Ofori, emphasised the need to use the bus for its intended purpose. He added that the longevity of the bus is dependent on how well the Department of Geography and Resource Development handles it.

Prof. Martin Oteng-Ababio expressed immense gratitude to alumni of the Department and the Geography and Resource Development Students’ Association (GREDSA) for their collective efforts in the procurement of the bus.
