Russian Club

Activity of the Russian Club

The Russian Club is functioning on the basis of the Russian Section, Department of Modern Languages, University of Ghana. Apart from students of Russian, other students can participate in the activity of the Club.

The Club has several divisions: drama, poetry, music and dance. Each division has a coordinator who organizes the training and programmes.

During the Academic Year the Club has four programmes, two programmes for each semester. First programme is organized for freshmen. It is an orientation meeting where students are informed about the Russian Language learning and activity of the Club. End-of-first-semester programme includes Festival celebrations with students’ participation, especially Level 100. Third programme is dedicated to cultural activities of the Club. The fourth programme includes the appointment of the new Executive team of the Club. The aim of all programmes is to help students to be acquainted with the Russian culture, cuisine, customs and traditions; to encourage students to use language in practice and learn the language in informal environment.

The representatives of the Embassy of the Russian Federation attend the programmes, too. It raises the level of the Club.

In 2017/2018 Academic Year, students of the Russian Club were invited to take part in the Programme of the Russian Embassy dedicated to the anniversary of establishment of the diplomatic relations between Ghana and the Soviet Union. The students’ performance was of success and appreciated by the Russian community.

In May 2018, students of the Russian Club participated in Victory Day Programme and Drawing Contest “City Heroes”. The Ambassador, as well as Russian guests came and commended the students.

The Club has a lot of ambitions and invites all enthusiastic people to cooperation.
