Vision

The Department of Modern Languages seeks to become a centre of learning recognized nationally and internationally for its quality research, highly skilled students and ethically conscious products, trained in international languages and cultures to meet national developmental needs and global challenges.

Mission

In keeping with the mission of the University of Ghana, the Department of Modern Languages will draw on its multicultural strengths and values to develop and maintain a highly dynamic atmosphere of excellence in scholarship, at both undergraduate and graduate levels, in the international languages of Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish and Swahili through effective teaching, learning, generation of ideas, research and knowledge dissemination.
