Aquatic plants form a very important component of aquatic ecosystems and play vital role in being the base of every food chain in the ecosystem. Marine and freshwater plants range in size from micro to macro and are very diverse and complicated in nature. The course will open students to ecological functions and economic uses of aquatic plants with special emphasis on Taxonomy, physiology, ecology and economic importance of marine and freshwater plants. Other special topics such as biofuel generation from aquatic plants will be treated.
