MAFS 602 RESEARCH METHODS

The objective of this course is to equip students with the relevant skills to design and undertake independent field research and to process data for analyses and interpretation. Emphasis will be placed on statistical methods and the considerations that influence the choice of research topics. The course will introduce students to topics such as Experimental design; Survey methods; Data manipulation; Hypothesis testing; Parametric and nonparametric statistics; Other topics will include Univariate and multivariate analyses; Introduction to modelling; Time series analysis; Statistical computing; Scientific reporting and ethics in research.
