The purpose of this course is to provide students with a basic understanding about the components of fish identification, classification and diversity. The course content includes: Overview of theories of classification; Nomenclature; Phylogenetic systematics (including principles and revisionary studies); Comparative studies of modern systems of classification based on morphological and phylogenetic considerations; Molecular systematics and Evolution of fishes.
