Students Tour of Obuasi Mine (AngloGoldAshanti)

Forty-nine students from the University of Ghana, Department of Geography and Resource Development visited the mine. The visit which was led by Professor Martin Oteng Ababio, Head of Department, was to expose the students to the mining industry and afford them the opportunity to better appreciate the practicality of their studies.

The Senior Manager Sustainability, briefed them on the current developments on site and the journey made by the mine from Care and Maintenance through to the Redevelopment phase. From the perspectives of the students, the visit was not only an eye opener but a good motivation especially as they prepare towards final year.
They also revealed that the visit and presentations aided them to better understand and appreciate the reality of mining.
