FACULTY CHANGES IN THE DEPARTMENT OF FRENCH

Dr Samuel Koffi is the new Head of the Department of French starting August 1, 2022. The senior lecturer takes over from Dr Sewoenam Chachu who served as Head from August 1 2019 – July 31, 2022.  

Maiden National Conference on French in Ghana Held Successfully

The University of Ghana Department of French, supported by the Office of Research, Innovation and Development (ORID), the French Embassy in Ghana, and Institut Français, successfully organised and hosted the maiden National Conference on French in Ghana.

Congratulations to Dr. Kpoglu on his post-doctoral fellowship

The Department of French wishes to congratulate Dr Promise Dodzi Kpoglu, a lecturer in the French department of the University of Ghana, on his post-doctoral fellowship at Laboratoire STL Université de Lille in France, under the auspices of BANGA Africa. Dr Kpoglu’s interests lie in language documentation and description, typological linguistics, variation linguistics and French language studies. His current research focuses on Aspect in Linguistics.

“Contes et légendes dagara, Ghana” on the shelves of the University of Ghana French Department

On the 18th of February 2021, the Department of French received a book titled “Contes et légendes dagara Ghana”, a donation from Professor Paschal Siekyoghrkure Kyoore. The presentation was made on his behalf by Mr. Lord Michael Baatuolkuu and Mr. Frederick Yuorkuu. The HOD of the French Department, Dr. Chachu Sewoenam, thanked the writer for his gesture and promised that the book will put to good use. According to her, it will be added as supplementary reading material for students as there is a limited number of books available to read for pleasure.
