SENG 103: Mechanics I: Statics

Credits:
3

Objectives: This course is designed to provide students with understanding of engineering mechanics of statics of particles and rigid bodies. Students will be able to identify, formulate and solve engineering problems under static conditions. The course includes the use of computational software to solve numerical problems.

Description: This course covers basic vector concepts of force, moment of a force, conditions of equilibrium of machine members such as beams, trusses, and frames under static loads, friction, distributed forces, determination of centroid and center of mass, area moment of inertia, and mass moment of inertia.
