As part of the 27th African Human Rights Moot Court Competition, a conference will be held on Human Rights, Securitisation and Counter-Terrorism.

This conference is partly funded by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). The UNODC has developed modules on counter-terrorism under the Education for Justice (E4J) initiative.

Some UNODC representatives will be in attendance to share information on how to introduce new courses or incorporate aspects of the modules into existing courses relating to terrorism, counter-terrorism, violent extremism, etc.

There will be two keynote speakers;

  1. Larry Gbevlo-Lartey, Esq, Director, African Centre for the Study and Research on Terrorism and African Union Chairperson's Special Representative in charge of Counter-Terrorism Cooperation
  2. Dr. Katja Samuel, Consultant, UNODC/TPB and Director, Global Security and Disaster Management Limited (GSDM).
