JOB TITLE: ICT Technician

CONTRACT TYPE: Short-term fixed contract (12 months duration)

The University of Ghana in collaboration with the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill is conducting a study to exhaustively document the course and outcomes of labour, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period in settings where the occurrence of adverse birth outcomes is high.

The ICT Technician will be responsible for overseeing the ICT hardware, software, and network connectivity and peripherals for the LABOUR Study and for ensuring that study data collection tools are always functioning properly .  A successful IT Technician must have a thorough knowledge of computer software and hardware and a variety of internet applications, networks and operating systems. The ideal candidate should also have great troubleshooting abilities and attention to detail.


  • Diploma in Computer Studies or data related field with at least 1 year of relevant work experience
  • Demonstrated experience in ICT support functions and adequate knowledge of multiple platforms
  • Able to organise and schedule multiple work-related tasks efficiently
  • Knowledge of computer systems operations and interworkings.
  • Exceptional technical knowledge of PC operating systems.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Understanding of client/server architecture for Windows Server and Linux Systems.
  • Hand-on experience troubleshooting hardware such as routers, switches, hubs, wireless access points, modems and network interface cards.
  • Knowledge and understanding of telecommunications principles.


  • Proven experience as an IT Technician or relevant position
  • Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  • Outstanding organisational and time-management skills.
  • Understanding of diverse computer systems, mobile devices and local area networks
  • Good understanding of data privacy principles.
  • IT certifications will be an advantage (e.g CompTIA, A+, Microsoft Certified IT Pro)
