The University of Ghana invites applications from suitably qualified persons within the institution for the following vacant senior member position in the Physical Development and Municipal Services Directorate (PDMSD).

POSITION:Valuer
REPORTING TO:Deputy Director of PDMSD (P.D.P & T)


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITY
The Valuer, Estate Management and Maintenance Division is part of a team in the PDMSD which is responsible for the management of the Physical Development and Maintenance of Facilities and Properties of the University.

Key Responsibilities
i.    Inspecting, monitoring and ensuring that the University enforces the lessee’s responsibilities of the various leasehold and license agreements
ii.   Establishing sound lessor – lessee relationship on behalf of the University
iii.  Liaise with the Office of the Legal Counsel to ensure that lease agreements are executed with each prospective lessee before they start up development
iv.  Provide management advice on all aspects of lease agreement including determination of ground rent and appropriate rent review clause.
v.   Referencing and valuation of all commercial spaces within the University for sale or rental purposes
vi.  Valuation of university landed assets for lease/license negotiation, insurance and equity investments
vii.  Estimate the cost of chattels, plant and machinery for various purposes
viii. Undertake thorough inspections of buildings and land to identify any characteristics or factors affecting value
ix.   Provide advice to the University on the acquisition, sale, rental and investment of university’s landed asset.
x.    Any other assignment given by the Director for the achievement of the Directorate’s mandate


QUALIFICATIONS
The successful applicant must have:
a)    A minimum of a good first degree in Land Economy, Estate Management or Real Estate from a recognised tertiary institution and must be a member of the recognized professional body with, at least, two (2) years working experience after obtaining professional membership

b)    A Master’s degree in a relevant field may be an advantage
c)    Be a current employee of the University of Ghana

iii.   Creativity and originality in Project Management
iv.   Knowledge about Procurement Processes
v.    Ability to support a team with good collaboration skills
vi.   Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines efficiently
vii.   Good report-writing skills
