PROFILE
Dr. Marian Selorm Yaa Sapah is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Earth Science, University of Ghana. She is a graduate of the University of Ghana, with BSc honours in Geology and The Australia National University, with a PhD in Earth Chemistry. She also holds certificates in Chemical Safety and Science communication from The Australia National University and a certificate in Science diplomacy from AAAS Center for Science Diplomacy. Marian’s research interests are in the areas of Geochemistry, Cosmochemistry, Environmental Geochemistry, Exploration Geochemistry, Medical Geology and Geoscience Education. She is an active member of professional associations, including the Meteoritical Society (METSOC), Geological Society of Africa (GSAf), Ghana Science Association (GSA), and the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OSWD). She is also a founding member of the Africa Initiative for Planetary and Space Science (AFIPS), a Board Member of Geochemical Society and the Public Affairs Officer of the Ghana Institute of Geoscientists (GhIG). Dr. Sapah has also served on several adhoc committees both within and outside of the University of Ghana. She also supervises students projects both at the Graduate and Undergraduate levels. Dr. Sapah enjoys mentoring, educational outreach and public speaking and has a special interest in creating interest in and promoting Geoscience as well as Planetary and Space Science especially in Ghana. She is also an advocate for the environment and sustainability as well as for women and girls in STEM.
