Groundwater vulnerability to salinization in the Keta Basin

The Principal Investigator on this project is Dr. Larry Pax Chegbeleh with funding from the University of Ghana Research Fund. It involves the application of various geological, hydrogeological, and geophysical techniques to define the fresh water/saline water interface in the Keta Strip. On the basis of projected rainfall patterns, sea level rises, and anthropogenic impacts, the project evaluates the future of freshwater resources in the unconfined aquifer system of the Keta Strip, and the implications on the socioeconomic conditions of communities in the basin. One MPhil student and several undergraduate students are being trained under this project.
