SCHOOL OF LAW CONGREGATION CEREMONY

JULY 2019

University of Ghana announces that a Congregation ceremony will be held for students of the School of Law, College of Humanities, who successfully completed their Bachelor of Laws programme in the 2018/2019 academic year.

The Congregation will be held as follows:

Date:         Saturday, 6th July, 2019

Time:         10.00 a.m.

Venue:       Great Hall

 

Accordingly, students who wish to be presented during this congregation ceremony are required to take note of the following:

1.   Ensure that all outstanding financial obligations to the university have been fulfilled. 2.   Register from Wednesday, 26th June, 2019.  End of payment for registration is midnight, Thursday, 4th July, 2019. 

Graduands are required to pay GH₵250.00 as congregation fees. Payment may be done through Visa/MasterCard enabled Debit/Credit cards, MTN Mobile money or at any branch of Ecobank.  Detailed information on payment can be found in the payment options link of the Congregation website https://www.ug.edu.gh/congregation/payment-options

List of Graduands to be presented in July 2019 will be available on the University’s website.

Deadline for registration for Congregation: THURSDAY, 4th JULY, 2019 AT 12:00 MIDNIGHT PROMPT!    

3.   Graduands will collect their graduation gowns and invitation cards from Wednesday, 26th June, 2019 – Thursday, 4th July, 2019 at the School of Law from 8.30 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.

All graduands will be provided with University souvenirs in the form of neckties for males and scarves for females at registration, which they are encouraged to use on the day.

Graduands are asked to return the rented gowns to the Law School collection point by July 12th, 2019, between the hours of 9.00 a.m. and 4.30 p.m.each day.  Upon return of the full gown set (hood, gown and cap) and presentation of Student Identification Card or valid picture ID, Academic Certificates will be issued to graduates.

Failure to return gowns as required during this period will attract a weekly penaltyLate submission should be done at Room D7, Academic Affairs Directorate, in the Registry, where the penalty will be determined.

4.   Those to be presented should come along with their invitation cards and ensure that their two guests bring their cards as well. Admission is strictly by invitation.

5.   Graduands are expected to be seated in the Great Hall in the academic gown appropriate to their degrees worn preferably over a suit/jacket with tie, or other suitable dress.  CLick here for information on what to expect on congregation dayhttps://www.ug.edu.gh/congregation/manual/graduation-day

6. Graduands are encouraged to register officially as alumni of the University of Ghana by filling forms available at the UG Alumni Relations Office desk at the Great Hall, before or after the congregation ceremony.

Please Note:      

To avoid traffic congestion on the Congregation day:

1.   All entry and exit points to/from the University of Ghana will be opened to the public.

2.   The general public is advised to use alternative routes if they do not have any immediate business on the Legon Campus

3.   To avoid the heavy vehicular congestion, only vehicles of guests with embossed permits affixed on their invitation cards will be allowed to drive towards the Great Hall and park their vehicles at the designated parking spaces.

 

Shuttle services will be provided for graduands, guests and public:

1.   Graduands and their two guests with embossed shuttle pass permits affixed on their invitation cards may enjoy a free return ride on the shuttle vehicles upon showing their invitation cards.

 

2.   All other vehicles will be directed to designated parking spaces away from the Great Hall.  Other commuters may also join the free shuttle buses provided at these parking spaces.
