Registration for Congregation Ceremony

Students eligible for graduation at the University of Ghana may register for the Congregation Ceremony. Click here to find out what it means to be eligible for graduation and click here to check if you are on the graduation list for this Congregation

It is advised that students with missing grades contact relevant examiners at the Department to resolve the issue in good time.

Students with outstanding bills should contact the Student Accounts Office promptly to settle them. It is the student’s responsibility to ensure that obligations on his/her account to the University are met to enable records to be cleared for registration. Students with outstanding fees on their account will be tagged and may be barred from registration and receipt of their UG Transcripts/Certificates.

If you still have some questions after reading the comprehensive information on these pages, complete the enquiry form for assistance: Congregation enquiries.

Step1: Online Registration:

Access list of graduating (eligible) students here:

Authenticate log in using student ID Number and PIN (Same as used on the MIS web). Once logged in, graduands will be able to directly register for Congregation.

Please check the spelling of your name carefully, as this will be used on the call list for the ceremony. If it is incorrect, please notify the Academic Officer of your College.  Errors in student’s records on the MIS Web should be reported as they will reflect on certificate.   Note: Kindly check with the appropriate College Academic Office if you qualify for Graduation and cannot find your name.

To register, you need to simply input your correct and reliable phone number and email. The date and session for each ceremony are here.  Submit your registration online. If possible, print out a copy of the registration confirmation for your records. Ensure that you register before you pay the congregation ceremony fee to avoid any difficulties.

Step 2: Payment for Registration:

To complete registration, Graduands need to pay a non-refundable fee of GH¢250.00 by the deadline. Graduands should ensure that they have first registered online for the appropriate session before making any payment. Please take note that Graduands who do not register for the Congregation Ceremony will pay the same fee for issuance of their certificates. See the Payment Option page for more information. Please note that, payments may only be done within the period given, after which access will be closed. Late payment is not permitted,

Following the deadline for registration, session and seat number for all paid-up graduands will be posted online on the Registration Page and sent via SMS (usually two days before the ceremony).  This is why Graduands need to ensure that the phone number they provide is accurate and reliable. If this information is not received, please contact the Academic Officer of your College promptly.

Please note again that registration will be closed after the deadline and payment cannot be accepted.

Step 3: Collection of Academic Gowns:

After payment, graduands should proceed to the collection point at their School/College to receive an academic gown, souvenirs (UG scarf or tie which we hope you will wear for the event) and invitation cards. To be allowed to collect these items, you will need to show your UG Student ID card. Although not normally required, ensure that you have your Bank payment voucher or or other evidence of payment to help with verification if necessary.

The gown set comprises a gown, hood and cap. These must be carefully examined before receipt as on return they will either not be accepted in a damaged condition, or if accepted, a penalty fee will be charged. It is recommended that gowns should be collected by the graduand only, as it is necessary to fit the gown to ensure that you have the correct size.  GRADUANDS SHOULD NOT LAUNDER GOWNS/HOODS AS THEY ARE CLEANED PRIOR TO DISTRIBUTION.

Instructions on the appropriate gown for each programme and how to wear the academic gown correctly are available here.

Graduates are asked to return the rented gowns to the relevant collection point between Monday, 18th November and Friday, 22nd November 2019, between the hours of 9.00 a.m. and 4.30 p.m.   Non-return of gowns will accumulate a weekly penalty after close of the deadline.  Late submission (Beyond Friday, 22nd November 2019) should be done at Room D7, Academic Affairs Directorate where the penalty will be determined.  Payment of penalty accrued will be required before Academic Certificate is released to the graduand. Lost gowns may be paid for there as well.
