UG Congregation - Notice


University of Ghana announces that congregation ceremonies will be held for students of the under-listed Colleges and the School of Graduate Studies, who completed their programmes of study during the 2018/2019 academic year. The November 2019 congregation Ceremonies which will take place at the Great Hall and the Cedi Conference Centre (Department of Economics), will be held from Thursday, November 14, to Saturday, November 16, 2019, as follows:

Accordingly, students who completed their programmes from the named Colleges/School and who wish to be presented during the November, 2019, congregation ceremonies are required to take note of the following:

  1. Ensure that all outstanding financial obligations to the university have been fulfilled.
  2. Register from Thursday, October 31, 2019.  End of payment for registration is midnight, Tuesday November 12, 2019.
  3. Graduands are required to pay GH¢250.00 at any branch of Ecobank, or Online using Visa/MasterCard/Mobile Money (See the payment options page for details) and proceed to their designated College/School collection point for their graduation gown, invitation cards for graduand and two guests. Graduate students will collect their graduation gown and invitation cards from the School of Graduate Studies from Thursday October 31, 2019 from 8.30 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.
  4. All graduands will be provided with University souvenirs in the form of neckties for males and scarves for females at registration, which they are encouraged to use on the day.
  5. Those to be presented should come along with their invitation cards and ensure that their two guests bring their cards as well. Admission is strictly by invitation.
  6. Graduands are expected to be seated in the Great Hall/Cedi Conference Centre in the academic gown appropriate to their degrees,
  7. Graduates should return the gowns to the College/School collection point within the following week between Monday, 18th  and Friday, 22nd November 2019, between the hours of 9.00 a.m. and 4.30 p.m.  Failure to do so during this period will attract a weekly penalty. Late submission should be done at Room D7, Academic Affairs Directorate where the penalty will be determined.
  8. Upon return of the full gown set (hood, gown and cap) and presentation of UG Student Identification Card, Academic Certificates will be issued to the Graduate. 
  9. Graduates should kindly register as an Alumni of University of Ghana by filling this Alumni Information Request Form.  Other University of Ghana souvenirs are available for purchase at the Alumni Centre or Information Centre. There will also be a sales outlet at the congregation grounds.

Please Note:​

To avoid traffic congestion on the Congregation days:

  1. All entry and exit points to/from the University of Ghana will be opened to the public.
  2. The general public is advised to use alternative routes if they do not have any immediate business on the Legon Campus
  3. To avoid the heavy vehicular congestion, only vehicles of guests with embossed permits on their invitation cards will be allowed to drive towards the Great Hall/ Cedi Conference Centre and park their vehicles at the designated parking spaces.

Shuttle services will be provided for graduands, guests and the public:

  1. Graduands and their two guests with embossed shuttle pass permits affixed on their invitation cards may enjoy a free return ride on the shuttle vehicles upon showing their invitation cards.
  2. All other vehicles will be directed to designated parking spaces away from the Great Hall and the Cedi Conference Centre.  Other commuters may also join the free shuttle buses provided at these parking spaces.

The designated Parking Spaces are:
i. The lawn opposite the Legon Mosque/Republic Bank
ii. The lawn adjacent International House/School of Law
iii. The lawn adjacent the University Guest Centre

After the Congregation, Graduands and their guests may join the Shuttle Service to back to the above locations as well as the Mensah Sarbah (Grassless) Field.
