Credits:
2

The course is intended to offer a broad overview of a core of theories related to communicative behaviour, particularly mass communication. Empirical research in mass communication, including the development of theories, will be used to explain and address the process of mass communication and current issues related to it. The course will also focus on the basics of “scientific” communication research. Students will be introduced to the philosophy, the logic and rules of empirical research. There is a limited introduction to the use of statistics in communication research. This is a hands-on course, which depends on several class assignments to secure the practical participation of students in actual research.
