Natural Products/Organic Chemistry

Two active research groups are working in this area. One group is actively involved with the pharmacognosy of Ghanaian medicinal plants and the second group is focused mainly on the chemistry of marine invertebrates and microbes. The two main groups are interested in natural molecules that are active in assays relevant to some of the diseases that are a problem for many Ghanaians including: Tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS, malaria, river blindness, microbial infections etc.
