Establishing the Centre for Climate Change and Sustainability Studies (C3SS)

Our Story

The Centre for Climate Change and Sustainability Studies (C3SS) is an offshoot initiative of the “Building Capacity to meet the Climate Change Challenge (B4C-Ghana)” Project which was under the able leadership of Professor Yaa Ntiamoa- Baidu. In pursuit of the goals of the B4C-Ghana, Professor Ntiamoa-Baidu championed and facilitated the establishment of a stand-alone Centre for Climate Change and Sustainability Studies dedicated to research, training and capacity building in climate change and sustainable development at the University of Ghana.

The Centre has been in operation since 2017 and its main focus is to develop capacity through interdisciplinary teaching and research on climate change and sustainability issues. C3SS as it is popularly known, integrates researchers from across disciplines and to harness the potential of interdisciplinary teaching, learning and research.
The Centre constitutes a key element in the University of Ghana’s broader strategic vision (https://www.ug.edu.gh/content/visionmission-values) and it's overall objectives are aligned to the university’s strategic vision on climate change.
