The Department of Botany is an ideal place for students with interest in Biological Sciences to learn and acquire skills in Plant and Fungal Biology in order to function effectively in society.

The courses offered in the department cover a wide range of areas including Plant Systematics, Ecology, Anatomy, Genetics, and Physiology. Other areas are Algae, Bryophytes and Pteridophytes, Mycology, Plant Pathology and Microbiology.

A BSc degree from the Department of Botany is an excellent preparation for graduate programmes in a variety of fields which should enable graduates to pursue many rewarding career interests.
