Topics that will be taught include physiological complexity and the need for models. Models and the modeling process, modeling the data and systems, as well as modeling identification. With the aid of case studies, research problems will be tackled using systems biology approaches with a view of elucidating the global applicability of these approaches to solving other problems.  Other topics such as integration of bench work and computational biology, high-throughput protein analysis, DNA microarrays analysis, protein and nucleic acid analysis, sequence alignment, motif finding etc. would be taught using existing databases.
