New Online MSc in Sexual & Reproductive Health Policy and Programming
The University of Ghana School of Public Health in collaboration with the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine is offering an Online MSc in Sexual & Reproductive Health Policy and Programming. The programme is jointly developed and delivered by the University of Ghana School of Public Health and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. The overarching aim of the programme is to strengthen capacity of individuals in sexual and reproductive health rights policy and programming in low- and middle-income countries, especially in sub-Saharan Africa.
Objectives
Upon successful completion of the programme, students will be able to demonstrate advanced knowledge and understanding of:
Target
The programme primarily targets individuals interested in acquiring the knowledge and skills required to design, implement, and evaluate evidence-based sexual and reproductive health programmes and policies in sub-Saharan Africa and other low- and middle-income settings.
Mode of delivery
The programme will be delivered online, with a mix of live and interactive activities (synchronous learning) as well as recorded or self-directed study (asynchronous learning). It will be offered either full time or part time. The initial degree will be offered by the London of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
Who can apply?
The course is open to individuals working in the health sector, particularly in the areas of sexual and reproductive health and rights, adolescent health, women’s health, gender-based violence and related domains.
Admission requirements
Prospective applicants must have a good first degree (second-class lower or better) in a relevant discipline; a relevant professional qualification; or relevant professional experience which is judged by LSHTM and UGSPH to be equivalent to a Second-Class Honours degree or above. In addition, applicant must have worked either in the health sector in sexual and reproductive health field in low- and middle-income country setting for a minimum of two years.
Duration
The programme is 12 months full-time or 24-36 months part-time.
Funding
A number of scholarships will be available for the 2022/23 as well as for the 2023/24 academic years.

Short Course
New Short Course on Safe Abortion Policy and Programming in Low- and Middle-Income Settings
Course dates: 20 June - 1 July 2022 (part-time)
Overview
The University of Ghana School of Public Health (UGSPH) in collaboration with the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) has developed a new short course on Safe Abortion Policy and Programming in Low- and Middle-Income Settings. This online course will equip participants with knowledge and tools necessary to strengthen health sector policies and programmes for safe abortion care in low- and middle-income settings. The course will be jointly delivered by UGSPH and LSHTM, and will run only in June/July 2022. The new online MSc in Sexual and Reproductive Health Policy and Programming will have a full module on safe abortion policy and programming.
Target
This course will be of value to healthcare professionals and practitioners in sexual and reproductive health in sub-Saharan Africa and other low- and middle-income countries, including policy advisors, service providers, implementation sciences researchers, programme managers and technical advisors looking to further their knowledge specific to safe abortion policy and programming.
There are no formal prerequisites for this course, however participants should have a good command of English and some relevant work experience, for example in the health care sector and/or in the field of sexual and reproductive health.
Teaching methods
This is a two-week part-time short course which consists of 25 hours of learning each week. This includes up to 5 hours of synchronous (live) sessions and twenty hours of asynchronous (independent) activities. Teaching methods may include pre-recorded lectures, group discussions, seminars, student presentations, and interactive computer sessions. You are expected to have access to a computer or device with a reliable internet connection.
