Prospects and Challenges of Humanities Research in the 21st Century

The College of Humanities of the University of Ghana is pleased to issue a Call for Papers for its 4th Annual International Research Conference on the theme Prospects and Challenges of Humanities Research in the 21st Century. In line with the University’s 70th anniversary, this conference will celebrate the growth and reflect on the challenges of the disciplines in the humanities which formed a core of the academic programmes right from the establishment of the University. The event will provide a global platform for academics, practitioners, policy makers, and students to share their research on the prospects and challenges of humanities research given the evolving undercurrents of increased world integration and localised concerns.

Humanities research cuts across a broad range of disciplinary boundaries using various multiple processes to create knowledge and translate it into various facets of the society. In the 21st century, cutting edge research from the humanities which responds to the needs of societies is vital and scholars are more exposed and better placed to come up with innovative ways of solving the world’s challenges.

The international conference sets out to explore diverse theoretical approaches, as well as interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary viewpoints and methodologies that can be brought to bear on the prospects and challenges of doing research in the humanities, and issues emanating from them. We especially welcome papers that are interdisciplinary in approach and oriented towards addressing the challenges faced by researchers in the humanities as well as future prospects of humanities research.
