Call for Applications: WAMCAD Workshop on Disease Modelling

Starting March 24, 2023 - Ending March 24, 2024 Expired

The West Africa Mathematical Modelling Capacity Development (WAMCAD) based at the Department of Medical Microbiology of the University of Ghana Medical School and Building Stronger Universities (BSU) phase 3 project at UG, are pleased to hold an annual Workshop on Disease Modelling from the 17th – 19th April, 2023.

The objective of this workshop is to generate interest in Malaria and Neglected Tropical Disease (NTD) modeling among both modelers and non-modelers. We would like to introduce modeling to postgraduate students, postdoctoral fellows, junior faculties, clinicians, and epidemiologists on a friendly but sound base where technicalities are made very simple to understand, especially for those who are not modelers. We would also like to showcase the utmost need for modeling to inform evidence-based decision making in the global fight against malaria and NTDs.

The Workshop sessions will equip participants with an understanding of Malaria/NTD modeling and the critical role it plays in supporting policymakers in the global fight against Malaria and NTDs and will generate interest in using models or becoming modelers. Participants will partake in trainings supervised by local and international mentors/experts to develop statistical, mathematical, or computational models. The workshop is a three-day intensive program to help strengthen knowledge and skills in disease modelling.

Interested participants are to send their CVs and motivation statements to this email address: rcvbdr@gmail.com

Deadline: 31st March 2023
