The University of Ghana will run the Diploma in General Agriculture (Sandwich) programme on the main University Campus at Legon, at the School of Agriculture (College of Basic & Applied Sciences), during the long vacation - June to August 2017. The Diploma in Agriculture is a 3-Semester (long vacations) intensive programme. As part of the programme, students will also be required to undertake a 12-week field attachment on a recognized farm, Research Institute or related institutions after the second semester.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
The following 3 categories of applicants may apply:
Category A
i. WASSCE/SSSCE Applicants:
SSSCE Holders:
a. Passes (A-D) in six (6) subjects, including English Language, Mathematics and Science; and
b. At least three (3) of the subjects may include one or two of Chemistry, Physics and Elective Mathematics.
WASSCE Holders:
Biology
General Agriculture
Crop Husbandry and Horticulture
Forestry, Animal Husbandry
Economics
Geography
Fisheries
Category B
Applicants who have Post-Secondary Teacher Training Certificate ‘A’ or Agricultural College Certificate will not be required to write any entrance examination. Selection will be based on certificates which are available by the close of applications. Applicants in this category are required to scan and attach their certificate to the online application form.
Category C
Applicants who do not meet the requirements under categories A or B stated above will be required to write and pass a competitive entrance examination to be conducted by the School of Agriculture, University of Ghana, Legon.
HOW TO APPLY
i) GHANAIAN APPLICANTS RESIDENT IN GHANA
University of Ghana online application E-VOUCHERS can be obtained by Ghanaian applicants for GH¢200.00 at the following banks: Ecobank, HFC Bank, ADB, GCB, Zenith Bank, Merchant Bank, UniBank, Prudential Bank, Universal Merchant Bank and Fidelity Bank, and follow the instructions given. After the application has been submitted on-line, the e-voucher should be kept in a safe place as it may be required by applicants when assessing their admission status at a later date.
ii) GHANAIANS APPLYING FROM ABROAD
Ghanaians applying from abroad should visit the University’s website at http://admission.ug.edu.gh and follow the instructions given.
All relevant certificates are to be scanned and attached to the online application form. All applicants are expected to pay to the University a non-refundable application processing fee of US$110.00. Applications for the Diploma in General Agriculture Programmes must be submitted by Monday April 24, 2017.
Category C applicants who will be writing the Competitive Entrance Examination are expected to report for the examination at 8.00AM ON SATURDAY April 29, 2017 at the School of Agriculture, University of Ghana, Legon.
