PARA 705: CONTROL OF PARASITIC DISEASES

In this course, the different approaches to the control of parasitic diseases within the community by preventative chemotherapy and vector control will be outlined. The course will enable students gain insight into some of the key concepts and methods of disease control as it pertains to parasitic infections. The course will also enable students to understand and appreciate research developments in parasitology and vector biology that may lead to the development of novel control strategies as well as disease elimination and eradication. Topics to be covered should include: Emerging infectious diseases, Food borne and Zoonotic Diseases and the epidemiology of some Parasitic Diseases of public health importance. The course will be covered in the form of lectures, tutorials and assignments.
