The Organising Committee is happy to propose two excursions to spice up the colloquium and for us to have a pictorial and experiential view of Ghana's cultural/archaeological heritage and environmental anthropology.
Tour 1: Tour of Kakum Canopy walk ( http://kakumnationalpark.ghana-net.com/) and the Elmina Castle/Dungeon (http://www.elminacastle.info/) located in the Central Region of Ghana which is about 2 and a half hours drive from Accra.
This will take place on Thursday morning, July 13, when no sessions are scheduled. All conference participants are thus able to participate in this stress relieving excursion; although this is not obligatory.
Tour 1 Fee: Ordinary Member: $80; Student Member ($60) (fee includes breakfast snack, lunch and entrance fees, transport)
Tour 2: Hike to Krobo Mountain Archaeological Site (http://www.ghanaexpeditions.com/regions/highlight_detail.asp?rdid=109) and Sajuna Beach/cruise on Volta Lake (http://www.sajunabeachclub.com/). The sites are about 1-2 hour drive from Accra.
This will take place on Saturday morning as a kind of post conference tour.
Tour 2 Fee: Ordinary Members: $50; Students ($40) (fee includes lunch and entrance fees, transport & cruise fee)
Anyone can register for one or both tours. Departure by bus will be from the Dept of Archaeology, University of Ghana at 6am and return in the early evening.
