Students learn how to apply media resources and productions within the community as a tool for social or political change,

indigenous expression, cultural understanding, community organization, or advancement of social causes. Media projects

relevant to communities will be identified, developed, and produced by the students in collaboration with members of that

community and faculty. The course will also examine different forms of contemporary television in relation to the question of

cultural value. Questions of value and quality will be applied across recent television fiction and non-fiction through a series of

case studies within a framework of cultural theory.
