THEA 634 (GENERAL ELECTIVE): Law, Ethics and the Arts

The course examines the inter-relationship between Law, Ethics and the Arts. It investigates how the practice of the performing arts

is regulated formally and informally by the society. It will study the general framework of Ghana’s legal system as it relates to the arts

with focus on issues such as the structure and language used in contractual agreements; copyright abuses; libel and defamation; and censorship.

It will also discuss the relevant sections of the national constitution and other legislative instruments like the copyright law, intellectual property law,

broadcast law and code of ethics for media practice in Ghana.
