GRADUATE STUDENTS’ ASSOCIATION: The Graduate Students’ Association was formed in the early years of the 1990’s to cater for the special needs of graduate students. All graduate students registered at the university are automatically members of the Association. The Association levies direct income from its members to finance its activities. Members also maintain their membership of the Students’ Representative Council, to which appropriate dues are paid. The Association organizes seminars, special fora and social mix events, all aimed at enhancing greater interaction among graduate students. The Executive is also responsible for representing the Association on the Council of the University as well as other Boards/ Committees of the University which deal with welfare of students.
GHANA UNITED NATIONS STUDENTS' ASSOCIATION: A branch of the United Nations Students' Association (UNSA) exists in the University. It is a member of the Ghana UNSA and the International Student Movement for the United Nations with its Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. The University branch of the UNSA was formed to study the work of the UN and its associated agencies and to promote the interests in the work for peace and security. To join others in the united effort to influence public opinion and fight for the prin-ciples embodied in the UN Charter and Universal Declaration of Human Rights; to stimulate and maintain students' interest in the international affairs and to foster friendship among the youth of all countries.
Membership of the association is open to all junior members of the University. There are two Senior Members of the University who are patrons of the Associa-tion, one of whom is the Association's senior treasurer. The regular income of the association is derived from membership dues, and often from individual or collective donations. Activities of the Association include symposia, debates, mock UN sessions, talks to Secondary Schools, film shows, educational tours and excursions, both national and international.

It elects its governing body of officers who seek to protect the interests of junior members of the Hall and provide cultural, social and sporting activities for the Hall. The JCR of a Hall, through its officers, maintains relations with JCRs. of other Halls and is a recognised channel of communication between junior members and the Hall authorities. The revenue of the JCR is derived from students' contributions and contributions from the University through the Hall Council.
NATIONAL UNION OF GHANA STUDENTS (NUGS): The National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) is the representative organisation of all Ghana Students with full powers to represent the student body of Ghana in all national and international matters affecting the-interests of students. NUGS is non-political, and embraces every student in all recognised institutions from the Universities, and higher institutions in Ghana which are affiliated members. There is a permanent headquarters at the State House Buildings, Accra, but the National Executive rotates yearly among the member Universities.
The Union aims at offering a common forum for the discussion of students' problems and the promotion of co-operation, understanding between students and authorities, and friendship among student organisations and other bodies in Ghana and the world at large. It also seeks to instil in students the spirit of patriotism and sense of awareness of, and pride in, their cultural heritage, and how they can improve upon it. The last week in November every year is the NUGS WEEK during which, through lectures and symposia, students are reminded of how best they can help the society which contributes so much to their welfare. The first Monday of December is now a NATIONAL STUDENTS' DAY. The day serves as an occasion for students to offer voluntary services in all parts of the country.
