Objectives and Vision

The Department derives its mission from that of the University, which is to “develop world-class human resources and capabilities to meet national development needs and global challenges through quality teaching, learning, research and knowledge dissemination”. The vision of the Department consists broadly in engaging in departmental research projects and collaborating with international colleagues; making the Department a reference point in Ghana for objective information on social trends and challenges in the country; making graduate studies in the Department one of the most attractive in West Africa; and making sociology and sociologists visible and relevant to national life in Ghana.
