Research Interests
Phyllis Dako-Gyeke teaches and conducts social science research on gender, sex, maternal health and HIV and AIDS within developing world contexts. Her current research projects include a study on health seeking patterns of pregnant women within the Ga East Municipality in Accra. She is also involved in a study that is looking at health inequities across Ghana.
Trained as a Communications scholar, with specialization in Health Communication, Phyllis has studied widely HIV and AIDS media campaign messages within developing world contexts. She has also done wok on sex and gender disparities evident in ART utilization as well as HIV testing in Ghana for the past few years.
She is currently a member of the School of Public Health team that collaborates with other institutions to provide training for HIV and AIDS Monitoring and Evaluation professionals in Ghana. Dr. Dako-Gyeke is also a member of the SHAPEin research network that seeks to promote health and participation through research.
