The Hadron Ball 2.0 dinner and handing over event took place on August 17, 2023, at 7 p.m. at the University of Ghana Guest Centre. Approximately 50 attendees gathered to celebrate the handover to a new set of executives and to honor deserving members who contributed to the association’s success during the year.
The event began with an opening prayer by the Vice President, Miss Alfreda Nana Yaa Darkwa followed by an opening remark by the PHYSAG Patron Dr. Joseph Asare. A speech was delivered by the outgoing president, Mr Amos Akudugu Hayford, highlighting the achievements of the 2022/2023 PHYSAG Leadership. Notable among the achievements include a tour to the Ghana Airforce Base coupled with a visit to Next Door Beach, the PHYSAG Conference, a Movie Night, free tutorial sessions for first and second-year students, an Arduino Programming workshop, payment for the cleaning of student washrooms, ongoing renovation and decoration of the space with benches in front of the library, Inter-level Football Competition, Games day plus interaction with Faculty members and a Clean-Up Exercise. He mentioned how these activities have fostered togetherness among PHYSAG-UG members and put PHYSAG-UG on a pedestal. He also hinted at his confidence in the ability of the new batch of executives to take PHYSAG-UG to greater heights. He also extended his gratitude to the patron, lecturers, members, and fellow executives who made his tenure of office successful. This was followed by the Handing-Over ceremony, where the incoming president, Mr. Daniel Sarbah delivered an acceptance speech. And affirmed that he would work closely with the newly appointed executives to ensure the smooth running of the association. He also asked that the support given to the outgoing executives be given to the incoming executives.
Notably, the outgoing financial secretary, Mr. Aziz Abubakar Sadick, was absent due to his resignation earlier this year due to certain reasons best known to him and this was hinted at by the patron during the Handing Over. The patron, Dr. Joseph Asare, addressed the importance of unity among the outgoing and incoming executive bodies, emphasizing the need to maintain a cohesive and supportive environment as was observed among the outgoing executives. In addition, the lecturers shared words of wisdom, highlighting the significance of taking on leadership roles and the importance of valuable lessons learned from the university experience as they would be relevant even as the class of 2023 graduates leaves the shore of the university and enters the workspace soon. The patron also stressed the significance of unity among the incoming executive body as Certificates were awarded to the outgoing executives by the lecturers present which are Dr. Allison Felix Hughes, Dr. George Nkrumah Buandoh, Dr. Ampomah Benefo, Dr. Joseph Asare, and Dr. Martin Egblewogbe (representing the HOD, Professor Nana Ama Browne Klutse).
