Research and Publications

The department’s research activities are geared towards drug development – quest for makers from medicinal plants and analytical characterization of these markers. Development and validation of analytical methods and qualification of analytical instruments preoccupy the research groups’ attention. In future, the department will pursue research in the area of chemometrics, specifically pattern recognition, feature selection and general data mining approaches for chemical data. The department will also add to its arsenal Top-down and Bottom-up proteomic approaches for structural characterization of biologics and biological/HPLC fingerprinting of medicinal plants in Ghana.
