About the Office


The University of Ghana is the oldest university in Ghana and one of the first to have been established in West Africa. Since its establishment in 1948 the university has grown to become a comprehensive university, focusing on teaching and research. With nearly 80 undergraduate and over 200 graduate programmes, we offer a wide range of opportunities for the intellectual advancement of our students. Currently degree programmes on offer cover the following broad disciplinary areas:

 Our programmes are offered at four different sites: The Main Campus at Legon, Korle Bu, the Accra City Campus, and our Distance Education Programme.

Responsibilities

The Pro Vice-Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs is responsible for:

  • overseeing the management of student life on campus.
  • coordinating strategies for developing and implementing academic programmes.
  • ensuring the efficient development, coordination, and smooth running of academic programmes.
  • ensuring the efficient utilization of academic facilities for teaching and learning.
  • promoting sports for academic, competition, and recreational purposes.
