Ghana Reinsurance Company Limited Donates to the University Of Ghana

The University of Ghana (UG) is one of ten institutions in the country selected in 2017 by the Ghana Reinsurance Company Limited for a donation. Each institution received a cheque for Gh¢25,000.

The Company has benefitted the College of Health Sciences, UG; the School of Medical Sciences, KNUST; the departments of Child Health, Urology and Accident Centre of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital; the Ghana Heart Foundation; the Ghana National Trust Fund; and the UG Students Financial Aid Office (SFAO).

Mrs. Jessica Allotey, the Head of Corporate Affairs of the Company, explained that the purpose of the annual donation is to offer corporate support to institutions which are playing a critical role in areas of health, education and other key areas of life in Ghana. The Managing Director of the Company, Mr. George Y. Mensah, disclosed that in 2017 the company has donated to the Osu Children’s Home and the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) in order, respectively, to support the maintenance of a bus donated to the Children’s home and public education on flood as well as the provision of clean drainage systems.

On behalf of SFAO, the Dean of Students Affairs, Professor Francis Nunoo, thanked Ghana Reinsurance Company for being a dependable partner to UG and for the company’s continuous support for brilliant but needy students. He was hopeful that the partnership between the two institutions would grow.

The Provost of the College of Health Sciences, Rev. Professor Patrick Ayeh-Kumi, also expressed appreciation to the Company for its support and pledged the College’s willingness to assist the company in whatever ways it can.
