The Chancellor is one of the three Principal Officers of the University; the two are the Chairman of the University Council and the Vice Chancellor.
The Basic Laws comprising the University of Ghana Act, 2010 (Act 806) and the Statutes of the University of Ghana provide the functions of the Chancellor of the University of Ghana.
The Chancellor is the head of the University and takes precedence over the other officers of the University.
