Vice-Chancellor Visits Radio Univers

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ebenezer Oduro Owusu, has paid a working visit to the University’s Radio Station, Radio Univers to interact with staff and also acquaint himself with the operations of the station.

In his welcome remarks, the Manager, Dr. Abubakar Siddique Ahmed updated the Vice-Chancellor about the on-going project at the station. He disclosed that the project was initially awarded on contract to an expert in building studios but was later terminated due to the uncompromising behaviour of the said contractor. He also indicated that discipline is ensured at all times to promote the smooth running of activities at the station.

Dr. Ahmed also disclosed that Campus Radio Stations have formed an association of which he is the President. He added that the association was considering the possibility of coming out with a code which will formally be presented to the National Communications Authority.

In brief remarks, Mrs. Stella Amoa, Director of Public Affairs admonished the Manager to instil discipline in the student volunteers. She advocated that student volunteers at the station must also be given theoretical training to know the rules and regulations governing the station. She also called for the recruitment of professionals to serve as mentors to the student volunteers.

The Vice-Chancellor visited the news room and interacted with students present. He admonished them to use the platform to project the good image of the University adding that when the corporate image of the institution is tarnished, it will have serious repercussions for overall enrolment nationally and among international students.  Prof. Oduro Owusu advised the students to take their work seriously and ensure discipline at all times for the progress of the University. He assured members present of his desire to see to the completion of the on-going refurbishment of the studio, adding that discussions and programmes should focus on issues that will bring development to the University and the country at large.

The Vice-Chancellor was accompanied by Mrs. Stella A. Amoa, Director of Public Affairs, Dr. Ibrahim Bedi, Acting Director of Internal Audit and Mr. Joseph Oduro Nkansah, Deputy Registrar, Vice-Chancellor’s Office.
